Summer Opera Film Series!
We are excited to show a series of old European opera movies this summer. Giving our customers a taste of what’s to come as we add more kinds of art to what we already have.
Der Rosenkavalier (Festspielhaus Baden-Baden) with Renée Fleming: Soprano Renée Fleming leads “a galactic cast” as the Marschallin in this bittersweet comedy of love. Her velvety tones match the lively, young voice of Sophie Koch as her young lover Octavian. Sophie, played by Diana Damrau, adds to the range of the trio with her ethereal high notes. Along with Franz Hawlata’s cocky Baron Ochs and Franz Grundheber’s always impressive Faninal, international tenor star Jonas Kaufmann rounds out the male leads in the Baden-Baden production as the “Italian Singer.” Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s masterpiece combines humor with real emotion and drama.
